I haven't heard anything from our two most popular members in a while. Where are you guys? What's up? "There is nothing nice about a Cobra. It's stripped down to the essentials, a big engine, a small car, and four wide tires to keep the whole business on the pavement. It's loud, smells like gasoline, and shakes, shudders, and bucks. It makes your arms tired and your feet hot. You nearly crash about once every 10 minutes. It's so damn wonderful that you can't believe it."

Just got released from Rehab again yesterday. Also had to visit my Shrink and my Probation Officer, all in one day! Then the cat had to be re-neutered, and I had to put my neighbour down. Oh yeah, I have also had a pretty crazy work rotation, and family home for Easter, so........ I have been fairly busy! Will catch up soon though! Cheers, Nomad.

I have been having problems with one of my little dogs. He has Pancreatitis and is hurting really bad. I have to call the vet again today and see what to do as he is scheduled for more blood work next Monday but he won't drink or do anything and if he becomes dehydrated it will be very bad. Ron

Upsetting to hear about your present circumstances Ron. Been there, too many times with our cats over the years. Seems to be an inevitable part of "taking them on" under our care. But please remember, that regardless of the outcome, we all give them the very best homes that we can. And that is a good thing. My thought's are with you, Ron.

Thanks for the support guys. It is just so hard that he was only 1 year old in December and I just had to have both of my others put to sleep in December and April a year ago. I am really hoping that the tests next week will show what levels are high and they can be treated by medication. He feels good and wants to play but the pain just makes him sit and look at me and his little sister. He will play with her if she stays where he doesn't have to run around. Ron

Ron, that's way too much trauma visiting one Family. I didn't know about the previous occurances. I was talking to "She Who Must Be Obeyed" about your wee pup last night. Like I said we are pulling for the little guy. He knows that you are there, he is not alone, and he knows that you care..... that is what we do. I believe it really matters. Be gentle on yourself. Nomad, Thinks.I just got home from having to rush him to the vets. He was just crying and throwing up and couldn't even stand up. I have been feeding him a very light amount and it looks as if everything he has ate for the last two days was still in his stomach. I wasn't sure I was going to get him there alive, but they are going to put him on an IV and try to stabalize him and see what is going on. Ken, who owns the place and I have known since he bought the first place from my old vet about 12 years ago is on vacation and I sent himan e-mail figuring he would get it Monday when he gets home. He called me about 10 minutes ago and said he takes hi laptop so he can check on things and he was going to call the staff and find out just what is going on and that he will talk to me Monday. He is one of the top vets in the country and he has all kinds of plaques and goes to every meeting they have when they come up with something new, so he isn't the one who ignored the not drinking and no bowel movement symptoms. Thanks guys. I called last night and he is still in a lot of pain and they have him on IVs, but it sure didn't sound very good. I honestly don't think he will be coming home. And part of this I blame the vets who are working there. Ken who owns the big hospital is on vacation. If Ken had been here he would not have just ignored what I said until it was to late. He is one of the top vets in the country and his new vet hospital won an award as one of the top ones last year. I sent Ken an e-mailand he called me and said he would be back Monday but in the mean time he would get hold of the staff and find out just what they were doing and why things had been let go this far. Thanks Nomad, I am still around at times. I hope to get to bring Frenchy home today. Fell on the shed roof the other day and cracked a bone in my left elbow and maybe a minor crack in a right rib. So I am not moving around very fast. And believe me, at my age to say you have slowed down is about the same as saying you no longer move. It has been clear but very windy and cold the past three days and that has my sinuses all in a mess, so I am spending much of my time trying to recover some. Ron

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. I am still hanging in and am mainly just so sore today that it hurts to even think. Fortunately with my small brain, that isn't a big thing. In fact I have started wishing I hadn't sold my Cobra but that is over and done so no need to dwell on the past. It isn't the first thing I have done I later regretted. I guess my worst mistake was passing on buying the three CSX 3XXX series cars in L.A. in 1966 for $18K for all three. I wanted a 289 and that sports car lot spent a lot of time trying to get me one but no one would sell them back then as they handled much better than the big block cars. They had the 3 above mentioned cars on that lot forever it seemed and even Shelby made the statement at his fire sale, that they couldn't give the dam things away. Boy, were we both wrong. Ron

I am still around much to the dismay of some. I have been trying to get all of my weeds mowed but in this heat and dust we have it has taken me longer than usual. Nomad, I wish we could have some of your cooler temperatures and rain. They kept breaking into the race yesterday to report on the fire down near Oroville and they only have it 35% contained. It has burned several buildings and houses so far but only a few fire fighters have been hurt and none very seriously if they reported it correctly. Ron & Nomad, the weather we are getting here is a combination of the both. During the day, we are getting stifling heat and humidity, then the evening we get these torrential down pours. I spent Friday night on my boat, and the storm we had down at the marina, had me thinking, "I better get my a$$ out of here, cause this sounds like a tornado." The thunder and rain just never stopped and the bilge pumps on my boat were coming on about every 20 minutes. It was a little scary! ---------- "There is nothing nice about a Cobra. Still hot here and going to get much hotter soon. Yesterday it only got up to 101 but was humid and also there was the smoke floating around from the fire near Paradise. Lord, I am tired of this no water year after year and fires the past few years. I really do wish my health was well enough that I could leave this state. Much more comfortable here today than yesterday. I built a new dog run yesterday for my dog. Put up a tarp on the top and west side for shade. It felt at least 10-15* cooler inside there than in the direct sun. Partly cloudy today with thunderstorms starting up tonight through tomorrow. We have been lucky the last 2 years. We were in a drought like Ron for at least 5 years, and then last year the rain just didn't stop. Filled all the lakes back up and by summer we were flooding. This year, each month is just above or just below average rainfall. For the year we are right at average.

Yep, just outside the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. I work in Plano which is part of the Metroplex (far northeast side) and live 14 miles east of work. Rain has cleared out now, but there are Thunderstorms forcasted for the next couple of days. I went online earlier when the storm was first hitting and there were areas that were Black. The storm line went from light green - dark green - yellow - orange - red - big purple area - black with white spots. The white spots are normally hail, but I have never seen Black. It was not even on the legend. Of course when that section hit us, the wind was blowing so hard my car alarm went off from the rocking. It is not sensitive at all. I have dents where people have thrown doors into it and chipped the paint away and it did not go off. It is set that way, because I got it to help protect it from being stolen, not to wake me up when a bird farts.

I do the same with my Mustang. I have always felt that an alarm is not any good if people don't pay attention to it. With the number of alarms that go off, most people don't pay attention to them. When I lived in my old apt, someone used a clothes hanger to hit the unlock button on my car, when the door opened, the alarm went off. My neighbor said that he did not realize that I had an alarm and I told him why it is set how it is. It has a vibration sensor, but you have to hit it with more than a door ding to set it off. There is also a microphone that will set it off if it detects the sound of breaking glass (crushing cans in the garage with the windows left open on the car will also set it off). I have the loudest most obnoxious alarm I could find. I always know when mine goes off. 110dB is loud.

We have our house and garage alarmed. It is always so sweet, when I wake up with a head full of sleep, to let the dog out for a squirt, and I forget to disarm the alarm.
