Hi folks, Nomad told me of this forum, and site, and I have to admit it is "very" well done. Lots of info on the car of my dreams.
History- Fell in love with the look of the AC roadster at about age 9, back in err.. ummm, 1964. My sisters boyfriend had an AC Bristol, which I was always thrilled to go for a ride in every chance I got. With the Ford Cobra coming on scene around that time, I really got hooked on the roadster. Bought every car magazine I could find that had Cobra mentioned in it. (Still have a few of those magazines, including the first R&T road test, of a 289, and the R&T issue on the original Shelby Supercobra. That issue also had a great article called "Karts to Cobras", with the history of AC Cars, leading up to the Shelby version.)

Yearning to own one, I watched for years as the prices continued to climb, far faster than my pay cheques grew, to the point where the dream faded...However..a replica was still within reach!

Just last week I plunked down a deposit, and ordered a FFR Roadster. 44 years later the dream may come true after all!

I look forward being a member of the forums.

PS Who'd a thunk Nomad was such a comedy writer..lol

Welcome Bill. Having just finished an FFR build myself, I think you'll enjoy it.

Ross

PS, that's not really comedy.. more like dillusions and misuse of prescription drugs.

Welcome Bill, hope you enjoy yourself here, and we will all be looking forward to following your progress on that FFR! And please, go easy on Nomad! At his age, he tends to get a little moody and depressed when we poke fun at him! LOL!

It's stripped down to the essentials, a big engine, a small car, and four wide tires to keep the whole business on the pavement. It's loud, smells like gasoline, and shakes, shudders, and bucks. It makes your arms tired and your feet hot. You nearly crash about once every 10 minutes. It's so damn wonderful that you can't believe it."

Welcome to both of you and don't be shy about posting. Any pictures that you have or anything that you want to say or ask just feel free to do it. Nomad is the sites GENIUOS. He appointed himself that. But all kidding aside he is very knowledgeable and he built his car from the frame up.

AC Bill, I would like to post some of those articles from the old magazines you have. Is it possible for you to scan them and email them to me, to post? Thanks.

Thanks for the welcomes fellows!

Ross154, as an Islander myself, I hope to see your car firsthand soon, (and to ply you with build questions). Too bad you couldn't make Sundays meet at Parksville.

I would be pleased to send the scans of the articles. I noticed when browsing that you have the same article already posted on the original Shelby Supercobra. I could send you the Karts to Cobra one, and the R&T road test on the 289, and any others I can dig up. It may take a day or two to find the magazines, due to a recent move. How do I get your emaill addy?

Also how do I post pictures? Do I use my photobucket HTML code and post in here in the forums?... hmm lets try this. Here is a few old ones from the 2006 Shelby show at Hallmark Ford in Surrey BC. Can you guess which one is not an FFR?? Any guess's as to the make of that one? Correct guess gets an A on their report card!

Hi Bill, good to hear from you! You can get some of the members email addys, by clicking on their name. It will take you to their profile, where some members have posted an email address. If I already have posted the articles you have, then you don't have to send them to me. I do have quite a few road tests of the 289, so if you want to check and see which ones are already posted. Ron75 can help you out with posting pics from photobucket. A few of us are using tinypic.com for posting pics in the forum. Great to hear from you Bill! 427SnakeSC

Still no guess as to which one is not an FFR? I figured somebody would have at least a bit of an idea?

FFR says kit is ready to go, still waiting for DOT OK...

I am still wavering between going all new completion parts, or to try and find some decent used stuff. My mind is swelled with questions...think I need a drink...

PS- Still looking for that R&T mag with the Karts to Cobra article to scan and email. I only have about 50 boxes left to go through.lol

Bill,

Those are nice pictures and you accomplished something that even his Mother couldn't do. You got Nomad to think. Kind of hard to see, but if any of those aren't Factory 5s I think I would go with the White one. Of course I am wrong more than Nomad. His one big claim to fame. And weclome to the group. We need more people that will post.

Nomad, not everything is simply black or white in this world. Maybe he's thinking of the Orca's he saw on his last sea voyage...

Bill,

You can post pictures from any site including any that you may have in galleries on other sites. If you want, I can show you the coding. I use Photo Bucket too because it has the coding already ready to just copy.

You guys give up already?
Ok, the silver with blue stripes is an Everett Morrison. We don't see many of these up here.

So Ron, how does one copy pic's from another site to post on here? I tried clicking on propertys, and copying the URL, and then pasting, but that didn't seem to work, nor did it offer it as a hyperlink. I couldn't see a HTML code to copy?

It's a shame we can't copy a picture from our own computer directly to this site, rather than having to go through a host. No clue how that is done, but I have seen it before.

I can take the link to the site from the address bar as a link, but that won't actually show the picture, or for some reason even show it as a hyperlink??

Bill,

Copy the URL from any sites picture just as you did and then add this to it.I am using the picture from my signature line for this. Just before the img there should be a <. By leaving it off you can see the code.

The reason for the picture in my signature line is that when you are posting, you can see the code and I don't have to look up what to add.

I have used Photo Bucket for years as they have the HTML code and a couple of others that you can just click on and paste in differeent sited=s depending on what they require.
