Anthony Boosalis has 2 full comp Cobras. CSX 3016 is one of them, the other is CSX 3026. These are some pics I have found of CSX 3016. This full comp Cobra is running an original 427 Med Rise SO, stroked slightly to 450 cu. in. It is putting out approximately 550 hp. Running gear is the 4 spd. toploader and a 3.54 rear end. CSX 3016 & CSX 3026
"The blue cobra is CSX 3016 the red one is CSX 3026 Both cars are full competition Cobras. Out of 21 full competion I have two. CSX 3016 (the blue one) raced at the 12 hours of sebring in 1966 and came in first its class. It also set a lap record for production cars in August of 1966 at Watkins Glen. The red one raced at Brands Hatch in England in 1967. It also raced back East in West Virgina and New Hampshire and set track records at both of those tracks." This picture and information was supplied by one of my readers, Anthony Boosalis. My thanks to Anthony. This is Anthony Bosalis' Full Comp Cobra, CSX3016. The red Cobra in the background is most likely Anthony's second full comp Cobra, CSX 3026. To view videos of these Cobras, check the video page. |

“3016 Unpainted/Black Interior. Invoiced to Shelby American on 1/20/65. 3016 was completed at Shelby American under work order #15071, opened on 3/1/65. Although the car was essentially finished in April, it remained unsold until the following spring. During that time it was used as a show car at least once, as indicated on a note to Porter and Hooper, the insurance carrier for Shelby American, who were notified on 11/25/65 that CSX3016, 3152, and 2431 were being trucked to the San Francisco Auto Show, held between 11/18 – 11/30/65. CSX3016 was then prepped as a race car to fill an order placed in 1/66 by Bob Grossman, owner of Foreign Car City, Inc. (West Nyack, N/.Y.). Grossman has previously driven Ferraris, but noticed that he was having and increasingly difficult time keeping up with the Cobras. After Tom Payne injured himself by falling into a repair pit, Grossman offered to dirve his Cobra at Nassau and ended up winning the race. He said at that time that he would buy a cobra. Thereafter, Grossman and his partner sold their Ferrrari 250LM for $12,000 in order to purchase a 427 Cobra Competition model. CSX3016 was completed on 2/25/66 and shipped to Nyack three days later. In 3/66, a soft top, side curtains, and mounting hardware were shipped to Grossman at no charge, c/o the Shelby American Race Team, attn: Tom Hunter, Orlando, FL. It is thought that Grossman requested the top and side curtains be delivered to Florida so that they could be used, if necessary, at Sebring, where 3016 was entered by Grossman at #6.”
